Baltimore Ravens #10 wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has three siblings, each with a sports background, either in college or in high school.
DeAndre is now part of a controversy after he criticized the officiating when Isaiah Likely’s touchdown was overturned in a recent game.
He called out the referees on social media, in a post that was later deleted, questioning the decision and showing his frustration with what he and many Ravens fans believe was a blown call.
DeAndre Hopkins has Three Siblings!
Born on June 6, 1992, DeAndre Hopkins was raised by a single mother, Sabrina Greenlee, after his father died when he was just five months old.
Following his father’s passing, DeAndre grew up with his three siblings: a brother, Marcus Greenlee, and two sisters, Kesha Smith and Shanterria Cobb.
Marcus and Kesha are from a previous relationship of DeAndre’s mother, while Shanterria is his half-sister.
DeAndre’s older brother, Marcus, played both football and basketball in High School. After high school, he attended Georgia Military College.
Moreover, Hopkins’s older sister Kesha graduated from Southern Wesleyan University.
Like most of her siblings, Kesha has been involved in sports: she works as a basketball trainer and played as a “slot receiver” for Houston Energy, a team in the Independent Women’s Football League.
On the other hand, Hopkins’ sister, Shanterria, played basketball in high school and was a three-time all-region selection at D.W. Daniel High School.
She signed a letter of intent in 2016 to play basketball at Texas Southern University.
Having grown up with siblings and a single mother, Hopkins faced many challenges during his upbringing.
His mother worked two jobs, and not only did she raise the four of them, but she also helped raise many of Hopkins’ friends.
During the 2013 NFL Draft, Hopkins mentioned his mother, crediting her for raising him and his siblings.
How would I describe my mom? She’s very motivated and she’s very motivational. She raised me and my three siblings but we always had friends staying with us so it seemed like she was raising more than just four of us. We grew up in Section 8 housing in South Carolina and we didn’t really have much. We got what we needed, not what we wanted.
As of now, Hopkins seems to be making his mother proud and maintaining a good family life with his siblings.
