Former Longtime QC Broadcaster Jim Albracht passes away at the age of 75 and is now survived by his wife Meredith and childrens.
Jim Albracht spent 75 years of his life being a native of the Quad Cities, where he grew up immersed in local sports culture
His broadcasting journey started at WQAD News 8, where he worked as a sportscaster covering regional teams and events.
At WQUA, he hosted a show called “Sportsphone,” which by 1981 had expanded to air four nights a week for two and a half hours each night.
Later, Albracht worked at a local radio station in the Quad Cities area, a hometown station for many aspiring broadcasters of that generation.

At WQUA, he hosted a show called “Sportsphone,” which by 1981 had expanded to air four nights a week for two and a half hours each night.
Over the years, his broadcasting extended beyond local radio/TV: he worked with the Iowa Hawkeye Radio Network and did play-by-play for the Quad City Steamwheelers.
Later in his career, he returned to radio broadcasting, hosting programs such as “Albracht in the AM” on WOC, demonstrating his longevity and adaptability across media
